After a solid but unspectacular junior season for the Wolfpack, Ratledge returned to Raleigh for his senior season. The Charlotte native added 15 pounds of muscle and broke out with a loud offensive season, while showing enough defensively to make scouts believe in him as an up-the-middle player. Ratledge showed the ability to capitalize on mistakes, driving the ball with authority. He has potential for average power from the right side. Ratledge can get pull-happy at times, and his next step as a hitter will be to learn how to drive the ball to the opposite field. Defensively, he has a quick first step and has enough arm strength to turn the double play at second. He has played a good deal of shortstop this season, though scouts project him to play second in pro ball. Ratledge is a below-average runner and has fringy arm strength. His senior status could make him an attractive option to teams looking to save bonus pool money early in the draft.
