At 6-foot, 205 pounds, Silva is all about strength and power. He comes out of Loyola Marymount's bullpen blowing straight gas, with a fastball sitting at 93-95 mph and regularly hitting 96. It's scatter-shot control in short bursts; Silva tried starting last summer in the Northwoods League, with disastrous results (0-5, 13.70 ERA, 22 IP, 56 BB, 19 SO). He was much better this spring (29 BB in 39 IP, 2.77 ERA) as the Lions coaching staff improved his direction to the plate. He offers a decent slider and solid athletic ability, as well as a raw power arm for an organization to shape.
