A 6-foot-2, 200-pound infielder with a wiry, athletic body, Burks has lots of tools and took a huge stride forward this spring, hitting .340/.415/.544 with nine home runs and 12 stolen bases. He’ll need to improve his approach, as he’s always struck out at an extremely high rate—this spring he struck out 23 percent of the time and walked around eight percent of the time—but did cut his whiff rate this season. He can stick on the left side of the infield with sure hands and a strong arm, but he’ll need to improve the accuracy with his throws. He’s raw, but there are tools to dream on here.

A NorCal travel ball veteran, Burks has a good pro body at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with room to add strength while retaining some of his athleticism and speed. He also has arm strength, pitching in the upper 80s with his fastball, but he profiles more as a third baseman or corner outfielder down the line. He's just a fair runner. Burks had committed to California but wound up signing with Fresno State.
