The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Canadian is a projectable lefthander whose size, handedness and strike-throwing ability offer a glimpse of a bright future. Bratt has routinely parked his fastball in the mid-to-upper 80s but was getting into the low 90s this spring while playing for the Georgia Premier Academy, departing his home province because of the limitations due to its strict pandemic protocols. In addition to a fastball that could easily tick up with some added strength and time on the mound, Bratt has shown solid feel for a breaking ball and changeup. He doesn’t have the present stuff of some of the other lefties in the draft class, but he’s loose and athletic and throws more strikes than fellow Canadians Landon Leach, Eric Cerantola or Calvin Ziegler did in their original draft year. His operation and command add excitement to his potential.

Track Record: Bratt was born in Canada but moved to Georgia during the pandemic in order to get more exposure to scouts. He was drafted in the fifth round in 2021 and has advanced a level a year in his first two full pro seasons. He started a game against Team USA in the World Baseball Classic and was roughed up by a lineup chock full of all-stars. He missed roughly half the season with a lat injury and made up for lost time in the Arizona Fall League.

Scouting Report: As an amateur, a great deal of Bratt’s value came from his remaining projection. Two years later, he still needs to add strength to bring his stuff up a few ticks. His arsenal was reconstructed during the season, and the lefty now works with a mix of four-seamer, splitter and sweeping slider. His fastball velocity is well below-average at 88-91 mph but might play up a tick due to a low release height that creates tough angles when the pitch is located at the top of the zone. Neither of his offspeeds is a knockout, though scouts were encouraged by Bratt’s ability to move his mix around the zone.

The Future: Bratt has solid pitchability, but he needs to get stronger. If he does he could be a No. 5 starter or a bulk reliever.

Bratt's mid-80s changeup is a clear fourth pitch in his mix and projects to be below-average. Bratt is one of the system's most athletic pitchers and the organization believes the way his hips move is a sign of more power to come. Bratt's game is also a bit too reliant on chases right now and he'll need to a better job of getting outs in the strike zone.

The Future: Bratt will move to High-A in 2023, where he look to continue to build strength and sharpen his offspeed pitches. He has the upside of a back-end starter.
