In a down year for Sunshine State high school pitching, Morales has stood out. The Florida recruit entered the spring coming off a strong performance in the Under Armour All-America Game last August, where he was the game's hardest thrower. This spring, he overcame a slow start to toss a perfect game and improve his draft stock. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder features polish for his age and a true three-pitch mix when he's right. His fastball velocity was down early but came on, and at times he was working off a consistent 90-92 mph fastball that hits 94. His fastball doesn't have great life, but he generally throws strikes with it. His curveball also was inconsistent but flashed plus, with good shape and arm speed, and his changeup is advanced for a prep righty, with good sink. Morales' size and inconsistency made his signability a tough read, because even with flaws he may be the top prep pitcher from Florida on some draft boards.
