After transferring from Texas Christian to Dallas Baptist, the 6-foot, 183-pound righthander earned a weekend spot for the Patriots this spring, sporting a 7-3 record with a 5.24 ERA. The earned run average is a bit deceiving as Meador was dominant in multiple outings, punching out 91 batters in 68 innings with a .235 opponent average. The redshirt sophomore has an effective three-pitch mix that projects to serve him well at the pro level. His fastball sits in the 92-94 mph range, complemented by a firm but efficient 84-86 mph changeup. Always known for his sharp 12-to-6 curveball, Meador will use the weapon for the knockout punch against both lefthanded and righthanded hitters. A high-level competitor, Meador attacks hitters. His overall command will have to improve for him to stake his claim as a long-term starter, as he did surrender 44 free passes this spring. Meador is expected to come off the board within the top 10 rounds.
