Carlos Collazo joined Baseball America in March of 2017, one year after graduating from the University of North Carolina. In 2014, he got his first taste of the BA team as an intern, where he worked with then-draft writer Clint Longenecker (now with the Indians) on various projects, but mostly just followed him around and marveled as he endlessly worked 20-hour days.
In Chapel Hill, Carlos wrote for the Daily Tar Heel where he covered North Carolina baseball, football and men’s basketball, among other sports. He was fortunate enough to cover UNC’s 2016 national championship game and was courtside when the Tar Heels fell to Villanova. During the summers of 2015 and 2016 he interned with MLB.com, covering the Braves and Padres. After joining Baseball America fulltime, Carlos worked with Hudson Belinsky on the draft beat for the 2017 season before Belinsky joined the Diamondbacks as an area scout later that summer. Carlos is now the lead Draft writer for the team and also focuses on high school coverage, pitching in on the college beat at times as well.
